Shards of Bright Light, Cast into the Faceted Gem of You, Revealing All Your Dimensions
New moon at 26° of Gemini, and the last days of spring
Saturday night, at 9:37pm PST, the moon goes dark and renews herself at 26° of Gemini. Gemini is the sign of multiplicity and multiplying, the cosmic lovers uniting to give birth to new form. Gemini encodes some secrets to creativity and conscious evolution, the mystical alchemical coniunctio of form and force, yin and yang. It has things to teach us about duality and splitting, about being a Self with many conflicting parts and needs and desires, and a Self that feels apart, and also longs to connect and disconnect and connect again. If we hang in there long enough, Gemini can teach us how to transcend those divisions, how to heal the tensions and splits, how to be whole, and then make something new from that wholeness—which is essentially to split again.
Wherever Gemini leads in your chart, you likely have some inherent flexibility and playfulness, a gift for playing in multiple modes and embodying multiple self-states at once. Gemini is also strongly associated with communication—the way consciousness itself multiplies and spreads. Gemini loves an open-ended process of receptive information gathering and expressive information sharing, constantly adapting and iterating and learning and ideating; it can live without an editor or an end-game. Shapeshifter magician genius Mercury is Gemini’s ruler, and it is in Gemini right now, in its own home, feeling free, loving its mercurial life, and that’s giving this time of newness and between-ness some real ease.
If there were no other aspects, this would be an excellent manifesting moon for the part of your chart ruled by Gemini. But this new moon is also in a near-exact square with Neptune at 27° of Pisces, so the platform we are working on the weekend is cosmic ocean, Zen koan ocean. This will openly frustrate and discourage any practical, rational, or linear use of these energies. If you have a logical plan or agenda you want to initiate or enact, well, good luck to you. But if you’re up for surrendering your agenda for a few days, and can allow yourself to melt a bit, enter more of an awareness-stoned-priestess mode, this moon could be very fruitful. Just be present and loose and open to following the tides of your intuition, a relaxed, receptive channel for the creative lifeforce as it dreams itself into being.
Here’s my honest advice for your weekend: imagine yourself as a bee—just bee. And collect pollen and nectar from as many attractive, sweet-smelling flowers as you feel like, until you are heavy with it, and flying kind of slow and low. If you’re not sure what that means, you’re probably trying to understand it literally. Try instead to enter a metaphorical, symbolic mode. Moon logic. Feelings and images and body shapes. Pretend you are a bee. Stick your butt out, try out your wings, crack up. Let yourself be guided by bee-like instincts. What smells good? What’s sweet to me? What is beautiful? Move between passive and active modes. Fly about but in a lazy-ish, wandering, meandering way. Pause with each flower that catches your attention. Make short love to it. Make some art. Fall asleep. Wake up hungry. Snack around a bit, drink in some more nectar. Free associate and get distracted and move on to the next flower. Maybe coming back to it, maybe not. Bee.
Here’s more advice, this time from Gemini: you don’t ever need to reduce yourself just to make it easier for others to understand you. What kind of satisfaction can that fake understanding bring anyway? Be complex. Complexify further. In your complexity and wholeness, you make perfect sense. You are uniquely positioned, at the intersection of all your parts, to see things no one else can see, and make things no one else can make. And the most interesting things will happen if you genuinely consider bringing every part of yourself to that making.
Something new will eventually be made from all this proliferating and gathering and conversing and dreaming. We are in the last days of spring, the close of the citrinitas that drives the birth of new forms and new life. The Summer Solstice - the peak of the light here in the northern hemisphere - is coming next Wednesday. We’ve just been through a wild and surprising season of change. You know some things you did not know twelve weeks ago. It has not been easy. You might have some new needs, new desires, some tender places in need of tending. As summer arrives, so will a need to be in your body, back on the ground of your life and your relationships, applying your insights, integrating these changes. This weekend’s new moon might offer a little preparation for that, a way to just rest, and play, and be in conversation with all that has happened. A more specific wish or intention may emerge out of this mid-week. On the Solstice actual, with the moon on the wax and the sun’s light peaking, if your impulses feel clear, by all means plant a seed or kick-off a new project. My guess is that most of us will find ourselves simply asking for protection and blessings on the brand newness already here.
